Home

At Prairie Turnip Farm, we raise heritage breed cattle, sheep, and chickens, along with honey bees, donkeys and a passel of livestock guardian dogs.

We hand-craft soap in small batches in our farmhouse kitchen using all-natural and organic ingredients, including honey from our farm.

Everything we do is with an eye towards increasing and preserving biodiversity at all levels and scales. We feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to steward this beautiful land in the rolling hills of the Kansas prairie and are happy to be able to share a piece of it with you, through our products and our photos and stories.

Farm Philosophy

Three generations of farm kids.

We are all about the long haul here at Prairie Turnip Farm. For us, biodiversity is the key factor in that plan. We work tirelessly to increase the plant, microbial, beneficial insect, bird and mammal diversity on the farm by treating our soil right and allowing nature to flourish. We keep a constant eye on how our every action will impact the farm long-term, and we work to create a sustainable ecosystem that will provide a healthy home for all creatures long into the future. In the meantime, we sure feel lucky to be where we are! Our loving families and wonderful friends keep us going and are a huge part of the reason we do what we do.
